scope and see through rings
scope and see through rings
I'm the proud new owner of a 30-30 and 45-70 in matching all weather finish. I'd like to install raised see through scope rings to utilize the open sights in short distance hunting/stalking. Anyone have any experience or recommendations?

Re: scope and see through rings
Very popular combo for woods hunting, up here. Biggest issue for me is that it puts the scope uncomfortably high on a lever gun and definitely changes the balance and handling. One of those things you'll have to try for yourself.

Re: scope and see through rings
I grew up using a Winchester model 94 30-30 but it's a top eject so it has a left side saddle mount (im left handed). Some think it's sacrilegious to have put the saddle mount on but I truly love it! It will be slightly different with the Henry's being directly over the iron sights. I'm over 6' 6' so I don't think the height of the scope will be an issue. I read the weaver 63B rail fits the henry 30-30/45-70. Any good recommendations on parts or optics is truly appreciated! Thanks all!

I have put 2 burris 3-9x on my 30-06's. Too much scope for calibers you mentioned. Check out Burris, the quality is good and they should have a scope suitable for those calbers.
