Scope for the big boy 44
Scope for the big boy 44
I have a red dot on my rifle right now. Thinking about a regular one with cross hairs. Courious as to what some of you might be using and what your thoughts are on them. Years ago the irons would have been nice when I could see better. Thanks.

Re: Scope for the big boy 44
I had a red dot on a rifle for one day. (Still for sale in the "Classifieds"). I put a Burris scope on my .327 BB.

Re: Scope for the big boy 44
we like a 3X9 .... ours is a NIKON but they are no longer in the scope business ....
Re: Scope for the big boy 44
I have a 2x7 on my 30-30 but on a 44mag I might go with a 1x4 or a 1x6. Just my thoughts.

Re: Scope for the big boy 44
Same for me Greyhawk; Leupold 2-7 on my .45 BB, Weaver 1-3x20 on my brass BB .357.
Re: Scope for the big boy 44
Another fan of the Leupold Freedom 2-7X33 here.
Re: Scope for the big boy 44
I added the Talley one piece scope mount and a Leupold FX-II 2.5x20. Lots of eye relief, a large field of view and, even with the 20mm objective lens, plenty of light transfer at dusk and dawn.

I have the Leupold 1.5x4 on my 41 bbs and I believe it to be about perfect.

I have the Nikon version of that (1-4x) on my Marlin. It’s a great scope. I’m bummed they decided to not make riflescopes anymore.

I have a Nikon 2-7 on my BB 45 Colt. Need a hammer extension but otherwise great setup.

Re: Scope for the big boy 44
I agree Red, I have a few of their scopes and love 'em.
I just bought a Vortex 2x7x32 that was on sale.
Not sure where it's going at the moment, but I have it on hand for whatever I decide.
It's my second, I put one of their 3z9's on a buddies 270 last year and he was tickled.
Leupold quit making it, but if you can find a Redfield Revolution 2x7, they are some very well made scopes.

Re: Scope for the big boy 44
Do you have other Vortex scopes? I’ve only messed around with one before, and it was super crunchy when moving the zoom etc soive shied away from them, but given the number they make and the popularity of them, it must have been a bad one. I’m looking at the Strike Eagle in 1-6x or even 1-8x for the .30-30 and then I could move the 1-4x Nikon over to my BBSC .44 Mag.Vaquero wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:30 amI agree Red, I have a few of their scopes and love 'em.

The reason I decided to try the 2x7, I may try it on the 444P, I've been tossing around the idea for a while.
