Forty's peep sight

With the weather being too hot and wanting to try something different I made-up 2 of Forty's peep sights blades. I didn't have any old hacksaw blades around, but did have some thin (0.030) sheet metal. I cut a few pieces and then fashioned them to size to fit in the buckhorn sight of both my Marlin and Henry. I drilled a 3/32" hole and used a black marker to color them. Just sighting out my workshop window they look good. I plan to take both rifles to the range next week and see how this works. Below is a picture of the insert on my Marlin 1894.

If this works out, I'll clean off the marker and then spray them with black paint.

I believe you will like them, I did the same on my BBB 44 mag., and
my Marlin Cowboy 45 colt.
One of my first targets with the peep.

Nice work Paul! Yes just make them out of what you have around the shop. When I first had the idea a very well used hacksaw blade was laying around and the hole looked like it might be a good size to start with. The blade material being very tough wouldn't dent from the set screw.

Can't wait to see how it works for you.
