Loctite or not?

I used the blue Loctite on my picatinny rail mounted to my 45-70 because the whole thing loosened up due to the heavy kick.
Warne Maxi HD steel rings (with a picatinny insert that completely stops the slipping) and a Leupold 1.5-4X are doing the trick without anything added. So far so good at least!

I use Warne rings also. A bit of a pain in the but to mount but worth it. I use Loctite on my scope base screws. It doesn't take much to shake them loose if you don't.

I use purple loctite on all the screws and haven't had a problem but I don't have anything heavier than a 308.

The issue is probably the increased weight of the new scope conspired to the old Redfield 4x. You'd be surprised how more weight makes for more torque during recoil and causing mount issues. I've been going through this with one of my spring piston guns this summer with sharp recoil.

After a thorough degreasing of both the scope tube and inner ring surfaces, I wouldn't be afraid to try the tape solution. I'd also would use the loc-tite on the ring screws and bolts. A little goes along ways, though. Keep the loc-tite off the scope and gun recover. Once it drys hard, it's a mess to remove.

I use Burris Signature rings with the Pos Align inserts. They now have XTR rings with the Pos Align inserts available.

Be sure you are entered in the upcoming drawing. These Burris rings come complete with factory supplied friction tape for the inner surface. They are part of the drawing….good luck!
