Big Boy X model in 44 mag sight and scope options
Re: Big Boy X model in 44 mag sight and scope options
Fiocchi 1475 FPS 200 GR semi jacketed HP. It’s a defense load. That type bullet is all I bought years ago until the fancy stuff covered the market. Deer are soft hide so the HP rarely busted up. They sort of splat. I think Fiocchi used to make light field sabots, not sure. The place I got the Henry had just got 5 boxes so I bought two. I’ll look for the Underwood brand.
I want the federal premium made-for-hunting 44 so I’ll be looking for that.

With these red dots, educate me. Is the size of the dot changeable or is it fixed in the scope you buy ? What magnifications do they come in?

The most common red dot will have a fixed size dot and with a few exceptions, red dots are no magnification sights. There are some red dots that allow you to change dot size and even some that offer reticles other than a plain dot, but the basic red dot will have one size red dot and no magnification.
Dot sizes in red dots are sized in MOA. A 4 MOA dot will cover a 4" circle at 100 yards and a 2" circle at 50 yards. A 2 MOA dot, then, covers a 2" circle at 100 yards and a 1" circle at 50.
For hunting, 3 and 4 MOA dots are the most commonly used. If you got too small on dot size, it can be hard to pick up against a brushy background.
You adjust a red dot just like a rifle scope as far as windage and elevation. All red dots run on batteries, the most common being the CR2032, but other sizes are used as well. All red dots have brightness adjustments that allow you match dot brightness with given lighting conditions.
Just let us know if you have more questions.

Well as for a hunting rifle I would most likely just scope it. But I do have a couple that I like to take to the woods which are not.
On my 41 bbs I went with the Vortex 1x4 and it's plenty of scope out to say 100yds.
I also have a Leopold 1x4 or 4.5 on a short barreled 35 rem. I think either would suit jusr fine, as far as factory ammo in the 41, and I've only tried a couple because I load mine own, has been cor bon 250 wfn.
At 50 yds five shots all touched, the Underwoods 250's were close but not quite as tight.
Good luck.

I put a RPP peep sight on my Henry H009: https://rangerpointstore.com/marlin-hen ... eep-sights. I am confident with it out to 100 yards. Like you, I did not wanted put a scope on my Henry. I wanted to maintain a wide field of view. I used the same front post. I sure that I would done fine pass 100 yards. But, I rather use a scope for that. At any rate, take a look .

Re: Big Boy X model in 44 mag sight and scope options
CorBon is a brand. WFN is Wide Flat Nose, sometimes followed by - GC (Gas Check) or other descriptor. Popular as a hunting round, since they penetrate deeply thru bone, etc. and don't expand, which saves a few ounces of meat from the destruction of an expanding bullet, or others that leave a huge wound channel. They are always non-jacketed lead, and usually hard cast. Since they don't expand, accurate placement is essential to a good kill.

Win some, lose some. I have a couple neighbors that cast their own wfn & other bullets, and are always looking for wheel weights and other lead.Vaquero wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 8:48 amCor bon is the brand wfn" wide flat nose". Edit: looks like Gene beat me to the punch.
