+1 on the Lepold Freedom scopes or the Redfield version. I have a few and they are great.

As far as your AR goes, if the upper has the fixed front sight you will probably see it in the scope. On mine it’s just an image in the bottom of the view and doesn’t bother me at all nor does if affect the sight picture. Good choice on the mount and you will like the 2-7x on it.

On one of my ARs.....I put a 1 in riser on and mounted a Leupold var-x iii 3x10x50.....I taped a big strong flashlight to the forend.........I use it for depredation hunting at night.......Works good.
