Rimfire Dovetail Scope Mount ?'s

I picked up a Savage 64F rifle at a very competitive price and bought a Simmons 4X fixed power rimfire scope to mount on the rifle. Earlier today, when I went to mount the scope on the rifle, I discovered the mounts provided with the Simmons scope are for a Picatinny rail, not the 3/8" dovetail grooved in the receiver. It has been my experience that cheapo rimfire scopes come (or used to come) with 3/8" dovetail amounts, not Weaver style mounts. Am I behind the times?

Where can I find an inexpensive (inexpensive rifle & inexpensive scope) set of mounts or ring mounts to fit the Savage 64F grooved receiver? I would like to find a set locally (Sportsman's Warehouse, Academy Sports, Palmetto State Armory, etc) so I don't wait for delivery. However, I don't want to go so cheap that I end up with junk.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

I think I found what I need. Both the local Academy Sports and Sportsman's Warehouse show Leupold Rimfire 3.8" rings in stock.

Don't know what I ddn't see these on my first searches.

They're also occasionally called "tip-off" mounts, or listed as for 11mm dovetails.
You can also get a dovetail to picatinny adapter, but that'll add height to your optic. That height is often needed for the larger objective lens sizes, but I doubt your Simmons 4x needs that.
There are lots of options listed on eBay from name brands that will cost under $15 delivered. I just bought two sets myself for a couple pellet rifles that I just rebuilt, they came in less than 5 days.

The Savage is more of a project than a serious target rifle. For some odd reason, I enjoy experimenting with entry level rimes to see what results I obtain. On occasion, I get a prize and those that group poorly get traded for another project.

A year or more back, I bought an entry level Ruger 10/22 for about $200 at Palmetto State Armory in Columbia, SC. Black synthetic stock and no iron sights. I mounted a Leuold rimfire scope which was in the gun safe and it has proved to be the most accurate 10/22 I own.

I'm of that same ilk, and love getting some low cost stuff performing a little better. Doing that with airguns and some rimfires is a little less expensive, and makes me a little bolder when doing modifications.

I have an old Glenfield Model 10 that has the ring on the bolt that you pull to cock it. Bought that from a PAL rifle team that was clearing out their unused equipment for next to nothing. I put a Pine Ridge (Cabela's brand) 2-7x scope on it that was on an in-line muzzleloader, and is all burned up on the bottom, and I thought it was junk. Used an old set of Simmons tip-off rings from the loose parts box to mount it. A true mish-mash rig built from leftovers. That setup will literally shoot one hole groups that rival those I get with target rifles at 25 yards. It deserves better glass, but I'm half afraid to touch it right now.
Not all of these projects go that way, but it's a good feeling when they do.
