.
For Information Purposes Only.
Legal in all states, but some states defer to local county and cities for regulation.

Springfield MA currently has a ban on new Pawn and Junk shops. There may be other local jurisdictions with similar restrictions.

Don't necessarily think it's uneducated. There are plenty of web articles, primarily East coast and big city that tell stories of of problems.

If Mark doesn't like pawnshops, why try to make him.
I never tried to make him 'like' pawnshops - and he never said he didn't like them - he said:
sorry, I have a problem with the whole pawn shop concept!!!
And insinuated pawn shops promote crime.
A very uneducated position.

Are you guys a bunch of old ladies?
Have you never bought, sold or traded guns in pawnshops?
Heck I have been doing it all my life and have found some great deals and got to know a lot of great people along the way and had a lot of fun making deals and trades along the way.

Have shopped. The 3 here I frequent are Ok. Sounds like those near you are too. I doubt from the web articles that good business practices are ubiquitous across the entire US.

Did not want to continue this thread, however, Ed, you don't get it. Pawn shops, although they can be beneficial to the likes of you, they can be an avenue toward crime as well.
Aside from that, the prices I have seen in local pawn shops parallel new prices. They are crooks. Think about it...they are low on the pecking order, and have to make up for that!
Do you really think they are not making a bundle from you? That's what they're all about!!
If I buy a used gun, it will be from a reputable gun store!

And I was wearing my dad pants when I bought a Topper 20 gauge for my son at a pawn shop. A year later the sheriff came and took it into evidence for a theft case. It worked out ok, but is an example of the issue. Good gun. Miss it.

Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Me too Ed, there's at least a half a dozen in the safe now that came from one Pawn shop or another.
Never had in problems with any purchases I made from them.
