Damn! Watching the Dodgers-Giants game last night and the announcers said that Vin Scully, the Dodger announcer for 67 years had passed away.
He retired in 2016. Baseball is going to miss that man. R.I.P. Vinny.

My wife grew up in Southern California and while she’s not much of a sports fan she sure knows who Vin Scully is. Heard yesterday that he started with the Dodgers while they were still in Brooklyn. Longest career for any broadcaster I understand.

RIP Vin.

Side note, as a kid our local triple A team was the Dodgers farm club so I’ve always had an affection for the Dodgers.

I used to listen to Vinny on a transistor radio in bed after my mother sent me to sleep. Many fond memories of the games he announced. Announcers in general talk too much and detract from the game. I just shut off the sound and watch the game.
Have missed you not broadcasting the games Vinny. May you truly rest in peace or better yet, enjoy watching all the players that have gone before you, in a truly Field of Dreams.

I can remember Vinny calling a few World Series. I’ve always liked listening to baseball on the radio compared to watching it on TV.
