First Deer

Post by Deacon » Thu Nov 19, 2020 2:46 pm

Killed my first deer ever. I am 65 yes old and bought my first Henry in Dec, 2019. In January I bought a BB 44 magnum and decided I would deer hunt in 2020. I used my BB 44 with Vortex scope and shot a good sized doe on Nov 18, 2020. I built my own blind out of a camouflage tarp and brush. My knee replacement will not allow me to climb a tree stand ladder. The shot was approximately 75 yds and the doe dropped immediately with a lower neck shot. Thanks to my friends who allow me to hunt on their farms and helped me with wind, etc. Love my Henry’s.

congratulations indeed .... as you can personally attest, a 44 mag out of a Henry is a most effective hunting round 8-)

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Congratulations, sounds like that 44 mag did the job perfectly. Great shot placement too!

Congratulations on your first deer. The BigBoy 44 is a good choice for deer.

Congrats of the first deer, you did well. I, too, am a ground blind kind of guy (with two new knees). When offered a tree stand, I just tell 'em that my ancestors left the trees to hunt 3.5 million years ago, and I'm not going back up ;) .

Congratulations on your first deer, Deacon. You never forget your 1st one. I'm a ground hunter my self. 77 yrs old, knees not so good.
Don't get along well with ladders or climbing. Enjoy that new Henry, & welcome to the forum.

I rarely ever buy a rifle, but when I do, it's a Henry.
