I'm kind of a boot freak, but the only ones that fit in this particular category are these two.
Wow, those boots are in serious need of some manure on them....
Ah, the sweet aroma of fresh manure. NOT!!

I liked my rifle in the slightly higher position hanging from the little d-ring, as it was in a little better position going uphill. However, uphill or downhill won't matter if the ring breaks and the rifle falls out. If I was in rough terrain, I'd wrap a saddle string around the stock anyway. So all good.

Yeah, I don’t think I would be to happy if my Henry took a spill.

Mine rides in there pretty darn snug. Anything short of a bad buck off shouldn't bother it. If I have a wreck and it does get dislodged, I can use it as a crutch all the way home.

.
If I had to choose one, it would be the latter. But I'd rather have a belt worn leather ammo pouch.

I always wear a cartridge belt as well when horseback. Can't have too many bullets....

I like the latter one as well but wish it covered more of the stock for protection. That's what I like about the new one.
