The Beginnings in the Potted Garden

Last year I posted some (amateur) pics of the potted garden our daughter plants for us each year since we've been in KCMO. She also does seasonal and/or holiday decos around the plants.
Well, this year with all the constant rain, we're a little behind. But we've started working on the primary green plants, and just two days ago our daughter finished with the more colorful, flower plantings. Not a lot in decos out there yet.
So here are the "green beginnings." I'll try to post as other pots grow and blossom, and the decos re-appear!
I've had this SHAMROCK for quite a few years. But on the advice of a good friend who knows how to grow these well, last year and this year I've been putting it out on the patio....and it is thriving. We really enjoy the delicate white blossoms against the rich green. I think this is the third year for this plant. Never had seen a LEMON STAR plant before our daughter surprised us with her choice. First-time trying to grow HOLLYHOCKS -- and maybe they won't do well in a pot! They thrive along fences, nearby buildings (e.g. a garage), and so on. But they are a childhood memory for me as my Grandma had a wooden fence along one side of her large flower garden. I bet the fence was at least 25 yards long. Every year there came up 25 yards of hollyhocks, and I remember walking along the row and counting the different colors that came out. Always enjoyed these. We don't know what colors will appear on ours here...if they blossom!
These potted hollyhocks started out about 2"-3" in height (there are two plantings). Now one is 15" and the other is 21". They're supposed to grow to +six feet! So we'll see how the pot handles these.
