I retired to the gulf coast. Thought I'd share some pix.

thanks for the pictures .... they could just as easily have been taken on most of the North Carolina Coast .... we often talked of retiring to the NC coast, even bought property down there .... today the reality is, that ain't gonna happen

Curious about what the poles were/are for? Long gone pier or something else?

Not sure. I would have said they were for keeping cars off the beach - but there are tire tracks through the center.

It may be a way to divide one hotel from another.

Sunsets must be beautiful, something we don't get on the east coast.

Except for the west coast of Florida, I don't think there are many ocean sunsets along the Gulf Coast.

SunRISE we get, but sunset is a Florida California thing.
Cane across a fellow feeding animal crackers to the guls. Those darn things will eat anything.

Nice photography.

Retirement seems like a nice thing. Have fun! I hope to get there one day. I would like to go somewhere that land is not too costly and has deer roaming about. But, time will tell.

If I had had any sense at 20 I'd have invested in land like that. These days I hope the lottery will come through...I'd summer in Canada and winter where it doesn't snow - where I can shoot and there is medical care. low taxes and ...well, that doesn't exist.

I love the gulf coast, has everything I want except one thing, and we're getting on to that time of year.

Yes, and we watch the weather very closely, every day.
