My winter fun

Post by bandit1250 » Sun Apr 03, 2016 2:29 pm

I was viewing some of my pictures today and thought I would post a few. I like 4-wheeling in the snow. I usually go alone unless the wife goes along. Can't usually get any friends to ride in the extreme weather on the mountain. I just take a rifle and the 4-wheeler and go ride by my lonesome and see what critters may have been out the previous night with all the tracks. I some times get a porcupine or see some other animals when up there. Most of the time the deer head down to the farmland. Here is a few pictures from '15.
Snowy the night before this picture

No body else out but me. Had the whole place to myself.

Porcupines in the area. Didn't see any this day. Hard on trees.

In the woods on a trail with my Marlin 39A made in '47. Another Ballard barrel 39A of mine. My four wheeler is a 2007 Suzuki Vinson 500 manual shift. 9 years old 1000 miles and has never been in any mud.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep, ... And miles to go before I sleep...

Good pictures. What kind of case or scabbard are you using to carry your rifle on your ATV?

The scabbard is by a company called Mad Dog. Very nice scabbard that mounts and comes off easy. Can be used as a carry case after removing. Big hand knob that you can get some leverage with to tighten it on. I check it once in a while and it usually always holds well. Can also use a lock nut with the nylon in it to hold it on. It has a hard piece inside the top flap that goes over the top and straps after you zip it shut and the hard insert protects your scope from getting hit if you brush a tree or something. Not sure they are still in business but they made quality stuff. I had this on my older Suzuki 300 King Quad and that was a 2002 so the scabbard has some years on it and still looks great.

Beautiful winter scene. That is the kind of snow I like, I could play in the woods all day long. Don't like dealing with traffic and the roads get nasty quick here.

Nice pictures!

Thank you.

I was thinking of the Robert Frost poem as the other poster did too.
