Trying my hand at street photography

I don't see me getting into it, or having the chutzpah to walk up to strangers and take their picture, which is the mainstay of most street photography. Having said that, the Pup wanted to go to downtown Charleston this past weekend. I trailed along behind and tried my hand at, mostly, some of the architectural elements. here are a few.

I found the doors of this boarded up building rather interesting. B&W was in my mind when I took it, and felt like that was the best way to go when I edited it.

Neat looking arched doorway at the rear of a theater.

Liked the idea of making a cross image of this imposing lion on a door.

And this is probably the best of the bunch. I like the play of geometric shapes and colors, and the cupola anchoring the image. An interesting sky helped as well.

I do get into street photography at times, mostly shadow, reflections, and the effects of windows and angles. Sometimes the architecture will capture my attention. There are some people shots that do it, mostly the candid shots where they don't even know they are in them, the long shots with the telephoto.

Well, I am a professional poser. Let me explain. I fish on a boardwalk in a local preserve. A lot of pro photographers go there because of a mill and dam that's there plus a lot of nature. It seems that a lot of them can't resist taking a picture of an old, lone fisherman with his beat up fishing hat, casting his line out. Usually with a long lens. I pretend i don't see them, just act naturally not catching anything. The usual state of my fishing. Sometimes they stop and we talk fishing. Other times they just walk on by not wanting to intrude on my solitude I guess. So yes, I am a poser. :D

I like the pictures.

Here’s an arch door picture I took at a little church in Scotland.

Love how the first window pic captured both the reflection and the items inside. Well done!

I took a number of images of this window. The bottles in the window were what drew me to take some pictures.

This one has a somewhat "ghostly" look to the bottles.

I tried it in B&W, but think I like the color version just a little better, although the "ghostly look was enhanced in the B&W.
