Sundogs

Post by JEBar » Tue Dec 28, 2021 10:42 pm

Sundogs at Lake Poinsette, SD .... for those folks like me who had no clue what a "Sundog" is --- Sundogs are colored spots of light that develop due to the refraction of light through ice crystals. They are located approximately 22 degrees either left, right, or both, from the sun, depending on where the ice crystals are present. .... yep, I had to look it up

Pretty neat.
Never heard of it, either.

Very cool, never heard of Sundogs before.

This picture reminded me that my D-I-L just sent me a pic she took at our last place. No sundogs but a beautiful pic with the ground fog.

Fantastic pics. We get them up here quite often, but we're so buried in the woods at our place we don't have a clear view of the sky see them very often.

Years ago I saw one that was a perfect circle high in the sky, it made me very nervous as I had no clue what was happening.
