Locater and tether aside the look on the birds face is almost unnerving. I like how the bird and the grass directly below it are in focus and the background is not. Nice contrast.

We had a wind storm a while back that blew out the screen on the lower half of the door in our gazebo. When I went out to feed the birds this morning, I noticed something about the size of a Jay had found its way into the gazebo, and couldn't get back out. I propped the door open, but he wasn't havin' it, and proceeded to get caught up in the screen on the other side.
I realized what the bird was, and thought it prudent to grab some gardening gloves before I get nipped trying to help it out. After getting its toes unhooked from the screen, I brought this little guy in for a quick look at his wings, legs, and feet/toes.

Other than missing a feather or two, all looked good, and it wasted no time flying off when I opened my hand.
Sorry for the picture quality...it was a one handed shot.

I was driving up my road the other day and saw this Pheasant on the side of the road. It didn’t move at all when I stopped and took a few pics. I suspect it may be injured but I left it be. Very rare to see a Pheasant where I live but they are (were) plentiful south of Spokane.

Well after my declaration that Pheasants are pretty rare at my home’s location yesterday we got home from the grocery store to find a Pheasant on our front porch. Due to this crazy behavior I figured it was the bird I saw the other day that I thought was injured or ill. While taking a pic from the car of the bird on the porch my wife said that there were more birds just to our right. Ended up having three roosters in our yard which is very strange. We are wondering if maybe somebody nearby has domestic pheasants that escaped??? Never heard of domestic pheasants but who knows. My cousin used to get chicks from the game department which he raised and then released in a pheasant release area under an agreement with the department.

Here’s some pics, hard to see the bird on the porch but you can see his reflection in the glass and the white ring around his neck.
