They usually show up around mid April and leave in early October. They are a joy to watch and are very active during a summer downpour.

I find hummingbirds fascinating to watch.

Those are beautiful photos. We very seldomly see a hummingbird. Maybe it is the area where we live. Occasionally we may see one at a "trumpet" shaped flower. The next door neighbor puts the hummingbird feeder out but they hardly ever show up at it. Looks like they must be fun to watch!

We have several at our flowers and feeder, too. They are a pure delight! I love the humming sound they make as they fly nearby or overhead, and their dances in the air are just breathtaking to watch. Great pics. Thanks.

Great Shots.

We have a couple of feeders ourselves and love to see them visit. This year is the usual 2 or 3, but one year we had 15. All trying to get to the feeders at the same time. It was like grand central station. My wife and I was standing against the wall on the porch one day and we almost felt like "hostages", lol.

Your photos are beautiful. Those quick-flitting birds do not wait very long for a good pose! ;)

Our daughter has quite a few visit the feeders on her back porch. We don't have a feeder on our patio, but interestingly we have had a couple of hummingbirds occasionally visit & enjoy the yellow, sweet flowers of our lemon star plant. Those colors are vibrant together!

Thanks for your great post.

Thanks for the pictures. I used to enjoy watching the humming birds visit my lemon and lime trees just outside my window. After watching the movie "Eye in the Sky" I'm convinced some of them are actually remote cameras keeping an eye on me. :|

My parents had a bunch of them at their place on the Albemarle sound. I remember the first time I saw one land, I was surprised to see one just sitting still. They build really cool nests with moss tucked in close to a tree branch. It just looks like a part of the tree.
