My morning view. I placed a spinner hanger out in the snow.

:o Beautiful

Have you been able to see the Northern Lights the last couple of nights? We tried to see them on Wednesday but there was too many clouds.

It’s been snowing or high overcast. Today is the first day of sunshine in the morning.

I thought I would revive this thread. I see beautiful sunrises and sunsets almost every morning. In the warm months I usually go outside for my first cup of coffee.

My morning view changes by the minute. This is looking out my door a few minutes later.

Living with close by foothills to the east and west I rarely see any nice Sunrise/Sunsets. I have shade a couple of hours before the sun comes up or goes down and then it gets dark. Nice in the Summer as it cools down and still have a couple of hours of light but not so great in the Winter as only get maybe 4 or 5 hours of sunshine on the shortest Winter days.

I didn’t get any sunrises or sunsets where I lived in Washington. When I moved here I wanted two things 1) a place to shoot and 2) eastern exposure. I got both.

Beautiful!
By chance are you using a Nikon camera? Colors look over saturated. I've had two Nikon cameras in the past that did that. It was their default setting. The setting could be changed, but wasn't persistent, didn't stick between uses. Next time the camera was turned on, had to remember to change the setting. I forgot more often than not and finally just gave the cameras away.

These were both taken with an iPhone and I manually increased the saturation to match what I see.

The Pup and I made it out to Boneyard Beach this morning. Sorry there is no metadata. For some reason occasionally the forum won't load a file, and the only way I can upload it is to remove the metadata. If anyone is interested, it was shot at 45mm, F16 @ 1/125 sec, ISO 64, EV -2 on a Nikon Z7ii.

Here's a long exposure taken Saturday. I've started experimenting with long exposures and this seemed a perfect time to try out the new 10 stop neutral density filter. I had hoped to have more wave action to accentuate the "fog" effect, but your are stuck with conditions mother nature sends you.

The Pup and I got up in the middle of the night and drove an hour and a half down to boneyard beach this morning. It was off and on rain, but we thought it would be light enough to allow us to shoot. Got down there and discovered it was closed due to a hunt ongoing. This beach is part of a Wildlife Management Area, and I didn't think to check the calendar. Actually, I didn't think they closed the beach when they had certain hunts.

Anyway, we went down to the public beach a few miles away and tried some more long exposures. The rain held off for a little while, then got to be too heavy without more protective equipment for the cameras. Mine is weather sealed, but I don't trust it for more than a light sprinkling.
