I believe it was a lynx. Hard to be sure.

My vintage pair of North and Judd bronze spurs dating to the mid 1890's. Nickel spots on them. I use these regularly. The silver ones I showed earlier on don't see as much use anymore since I got these from a collector many years ago. These are stamped with an "anchor" brand which was the company trademark. North and Judd were in New Jersey and we're famous for their affordable cowboy hardware all over the west in the 1800's. Buffalo Bill Cody was a customer. Most Civil War cavalry wore them. They had a big catalog and mail order business.
The other photo I just threw in for a laugh; my tired old vest. Seen lots of miles and long days in the saddle. A "waist coat" as they were known was very popular as if freed up your arms for roping, etc plus had 4 pockets for your sack of Bull Durham tobacco, etc.

I have to move a bunch of cattle over the next 3 days and I'm inspired to shine up my old silver spurs from the start of this thread and use them. I haven't rode with them for a number of years so I'll put 'em to work for a change. :)

Really interesting read. I enjoyed it very much.
Great to see there are still those working the cattle from a horse.
I know there are some places it's still the only way.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.
