Here, maybe this will help. Looks like milkweed down. Sorry, the bird looks rather over-processed at this magnification. I had to do some major de noise to the image due to low light levels under the canopy.

The bird sitting on the open tree trunk is my favorite.

I think it was the best shot of the day. Probably my best prothonotary warbler shot to date.

Never heard of the 'Francis Beidler Forest', had to look it up. It's remarkable!

These are wonderful, CH. Especially, the seemingly personal interaction between the two birds in DSC_9150. Great shots.

I was excited to be able to get the opportunity to photograph this feeding outside the nest. Pileated woodpeckers aren't rare around here, but they aren't commonly seen. The two of them didn't seemed to be terribly nervous about a crazy guy with a camera stalking them. These are really big woodpeckers.

👍I've only seen a few in all the years I've lived here in CT. They are really special; and a "Da Da Da Dah Da"... joy to see. To quote a famous cartoon woodpecker. 😊 Great shots.

Yet more great shots!
We are fortunate to have a couple Pileated that visit our yard two to three times a week. I love watching them.

The Pup and I made it over to Magnolia this weekend.

The fledglings were out hunting and squabbling.

Exceptional photos, CH. The pair of that Egret picking prey off of the algae in mid-flight is awesome.

All stunning images. Thanks.

It was a great experience. There were so many egrets flying low on the water looking to pick off a small meal. Often they got something that wasn't edible. I'm surprised they could get anything through that thick mat of duck weed.
