Been close to stepping on grouse whole summer/scaring them off, sitting in trees watching at me within range when they are not in season. And now the season started 25th of august and not a single grouse in sight. Anyway often when hunting I find good spots for foraging so me and my girlfriend spent last couple of days with foraging lingonberries and blueberries for our needs. We got around 30litres of berries in total not that easy to find because of the extremly dry summer. But I took a picture of my Henry resting and enjoying the view.

many decades ago a group of us walked every foot of the Appalachian Train in NC .... trout fishing and foraging were part of each part we covered .... lets just say that it wasn't legal to hunt in the park .. .. those days are long gone, thanks for your post which have brought fond memories back to the surface

We have been “foraging” on our own land lately as the wild berries are going crazy with this summers weather. Figs and blackberries have been the latest haul.

I’m going to go out today and finally put some rounds through my new grouse gun (Henry Small Game Carbine) and possibly through my new .44 Ruger carbine as well. Grouse don’t open here until Sept 10, but snowshoe hare opened August 1.

Beautiful place to forge, for sure.

Not seeing as much for berries, this year, in our area, but it is shaping up to be a good year for acorns, so the wildlife should be happy.

Very similar hill country over looking the Columbia River on the west side of the Cascade Mtns before entering the gorge. Thanks for sharing. Like your Henry too.

Yep, lived in Washougal, WA for several years, overlooking the Columbia. Looks familiar. Beautiful country.
