Thanksgiving morning hunt

I got the urge to go out this morning when I saw it had rained a little and was still coming down a very light mist. I took the Sako 222 and went to my favorite spot where the turkeys frequent the shooting lanes when raining that are open from the brush and woods around them. Turkeys just like the open areas when raining. As I was getting in my friends deer blind I looked out the far right lane and caught a glimpse of a turkey going across. I waited for a minute or so and no more came across so I get out of the blind and headed to a spot to head them off. I barely got there and got my shooting sticks set up and I saw a couple heads looking up over the bank in the woods. They came up over but didn't offer a clear shot so I waited them out. I saw on heading toward the old logging road so I got my rifle on that area and out stepped one. I waited for it to get a little farther in the clear and when it did it was leaning down getting acorns. That is a perfect shot to take them across the back and not ruin any breast meat. When I shot there must have been about 12-15 birds went in the air and flew back down the hill. They were starting to call the flock back together when I got to my truck. Here is a picture of my hen turkey. Feels like around 12lb. or so.
