Squirrel Season 2022

Post by graywolf » Wed Aug 10, 2022 4:44 pm

Squirrel season comes in a month from today. Plan on seeing how the Henry 410 does on them, at least the first part of the season anyway.

What size shot? It should work well, no idea when our season opens, had to look.
Aug. 28th
I haven't squirrel hunted in ages, even though the woods next to me are full.
We don't really eat them so I don't hunt 'em.
Do have some grandsons coming of age soon and hopefully one will like shooting and or hunting.
I do enjoy deer hunting so I watch a lot of them.

Good luck to ya.
Be sure to share.

7-1/2 and 8 shot. I got back to squirrel hunting last 2 seasons by necessity. They been chewing rafters in utility sheds and overhangs. Had to replace 2 overhangs. Wife never has eat them and I haven’t in a long time, mostly because she want let me bring them in house. Been giving them away. Built a 2 man shooting house for deer when oldest grandson was 8. He’s 25 now. Lots of memories in that shooting house with all 3 grandkids.

Understand once they go to wrecking things time to put a stop to that. ;)
We use to make big stew in the early fall, with a variety of meats.
They are good for that, but my neighbor moved and haven't done one in years.
Cool about that time with the grandsons.
#2, he's 6 and was here one day last season and he and I watched two young bucks pushing and playing around.
Good memory. ;) Hoping for many more.

You will have many more. There’s nothing like spending time with Grandkids.

Wow! The difference in seasons from state to state is something. In missouri it starts about mid may and runs till the fifteenth of February... of course, after a brief period in may..May... hardly anyone is stalking the woods squirrel hunting in the summer csusecits so nasty hot and the vile ticks are apt to cover you up and pull you down out in the woods in the summer, then when it's cool enough in the fall deer season gets going g and no one ( well, not too many people are tramping through the woods scaring all the bucks away just for a chance to shoot a squirrel... but after deer season and on till squirrel season closes it can be fun....🙂

Ours starts 10 September and ends the 5 of March. I don't get in a big hurry to hunt in September. Still to hot plus lot of the squirrels will have wolves in them. I used to always wait til after first freeze.

We have a short Spring season but I'm not sure when it is exactly, I'd have to check.
All small game ends the 28th of Feb.

Our season goes from Sept 1 to Feb 28th. I use a variety of .410 shotguns. I also enjoy hunting them with air rifles. .22 caliber mostly. They make a tasty stew and are good in BBQ sauce in the slow cooker.
