Nice buck and that’s a great picture with your Henry in it. Sure are tall eye guards.

Thanks. The burned area behind the buck is from a controlled burn they did 2 weeks prior to the rifle season. I thought it might change the deer movement. However it doest appear to have made much difference.

The shot was not far. Maybe 30 yards. It was a dead on frontal shot. He was head down coming thru some heavy brush. I whistled at him, he lifted his head and gave me a clear shot to his chest. That bullet traveled thru his heart, thru the deer lengthwise and out the back. I didnt recover the bullet but when field dressing him I didnt find the carnage to his insides as I expected. He only went about 25 yards and dropped. I used a handload that shoots fantastic out of my Blackhawk in 45colt Its a 255gr Lee RNFP powder coated in front of a modest charge of HP 38. Ive never chrono'd it but Load books suggest about 875 fps. Im sure I could load it hotter but after seeing this punch thru a deer, I dont think I Need to.
