Deer With Golden Boy 357
Deer With Golden Boy 357
Friend took this buck last week on my place in MO.
One shot kill. Buck had been fighting with another over a hot doe.
Once again, the fellas get in trouble over the girls.

Re: Deer With Golden Boy 357
Nice buck, congrats to your friend, have any idea what ammo he was using?
Jim, it is very capable, like most calibers shot placement is King.
I did it many years ago with my Rossi 357, I was a steadier off hand shot back in them days.
Put one right through his neck, he might have went a couple of three yds. and feel right over.

Re: Deer With Golden Boy 357
I also have no doubts about how effective the 357. Shortly after I bought my Bicenntinial Ruger Blackhawk in 357 with the extra 9mm cylinder, I shot 3 or 4 whitetails. All were shot between 10-50 yards away. I loaded 158gr HPs with Winchester 296 and CCI 550 mag primers. There was no doubt when you smacked 'em and they would fall between 10-30 yards away. I hunted in tree blinds back then.

I have never heard a Big Boy Classic called a Golden Boy .357, but I get your meaning. All the GB guns are rimfire…… But that is a nice deer.

Very nice buck!
Wish Illinois would allow deer hunting with straight wall cartridges in a rifle.
