Elk season approaches

Post by Centaur » Fri Aug 13, 2021 8:05 am

I have killed a few elk in years past, but have had a long dry spell. I have hunted solely with a longbow for many years, and I have decided that I will use a rifle this year so that my freezer can remember what elk meat is like. I can hunt private land for a cow starting August 15, and it just so happens that I have access to some in good elk country. This will be close range hunting, and I plan on alternating between my 30-30s and 45-70. Looking forward to a carrying a rifle this year; in years past, I could have taken dozens of elk at less than 100 yards had I been armed with a long gun. At my tender age, there aren’t many elk seasons left, and we love eating wapiti.

Love that area of Wyoming up there where you are at. I wish I could convince my wife to go there. Id like to get out of this State. Good luck with the elk hunt.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I never cared for venison much, but Elk is very good. I can eat that.

Cody and Pinedale are a couple of nice towns. Very nice country over there.
