Congratulations, nice shooting. I have never heard of a Nilgai.

Then again, on second thought, maybe you are just using this photo as an example to show what the sight can do? Maybe you didn't actually shoot this

I did shoot it. It was one of the shortest and most interesting hunts I've been on. A one day hunt with Lendell Laxton at http://www.llhunt.com/

When Lendell tells you its a tough animal to bring down, believe him. They also have a sixth sense and can see, smell, hear better than anything I've ever hunted.

The 400 gr. Barnes out of the Henry was good medicine. Deep penetration and the bullet held together like a wad of chewing gum.

Its supposed to be getting mounted. Left it with a Taxidermist in Texas. Thanks for asking, I need to call and check on it!

indeed .... I didn't know that we had free range Nilgai antelope in this country .... did some research and came up with :

"Texas is home to more free range Nilgai antelope than their native country of India. Originally stocked on the King Ranch in the 1930’s, these sporty game animals quickly took hold and are currently free ranging on a handful of large private properties in lower South Texas. Texas Nilgai antelope hunting is indeed very challenging hunting, and this is certainly a hunt destination you will want to add to your schedule."

Nice job on the Nilgai Andy. You bullet choice was excellent, as well!

By the way, I am enjoying the Skinner sight on my Henry so much I just bought another Skinner for my Ruger No 1 450-400 Nitro Express that will be going with me to Zimbabwe for Cape Buffalo.

If you guys haven't tried the Skinner sights, you ought to!

Nilgai are notorious for soaking up lead. You absolutely have to hit them right!

And yes, they are good eating!
