Is a 357 Henry really a deer hunting rifle ?

Very cool hunting video (27* and windy)...and in that wintry wind it was good to have had only a six-minute wait for the harvest.
The Henry .357 carbine was equipped perfectly with the barrel-mounted peep. Simple equipment = great results for this fellow!

That is a neat video. If I was hunting where the shots were 100 yds or less, I'd use my 357. But, the ranges we hunt at go up to about 175 yds, which is a little farther than I'd want to try with the 357.

I tell people to hunt with a .357 like they would a muzzleloader - 100 -125 yards max and it has excellent deer potential - Heck with full house good handloads I might consider an elk at 50 - 75 yards with it also.
I don't think .357 rifles started out intending to be a 'deer rifle' but the recognized potential of the .357 out of a rifle barrel along with modern powders and bullets have proved it to be so - within reasonable range of course.

That was an interesting video, Jim - thanks for posting it. It never ceases to amaze me just how far some deer can run, even with a well place 'kill shot'.
