Successful Hunting

Post by Vaquero » Tue Aug 11, 2020 6:31 pm

Alright, "the Choosing the best deer rifle thread got me to thinking." (I know could be trouble) :lol:
But anyhow, How many different firearms have you used to take game with.
I'm talking any game, Large, small, or foul.
I have hunted most of my adult life, and have used a number of different firearms.
Some I've hunted with, and never seen anything while carrying such weapon.
Some I hunted with a while before I actually bloody them, some I was successful with on their first outing.
Here's mine, hope some will add theirs.

So let me see, these I was successful with.

Rifles;
Marlin 30-30... of course :D
2 Marlin 35 Rem.
Marlin 308 MX
Marlin 444
Marlin 25 MN 22 mag.

Rem. 1903 30-06

Shotguns;
2 Rem. 1100 12 ga

Similar thread on Marlin owners and like I said there I cant list them all because it would run to hundreds. Having lived on a farm most of my life and with no closed seasons on most game in Aus the opportunities are almost endless. A steady stream of family and friends looking to hunt sees a new combination available almost weekly not to mention the 2 dozen that reside in my safe.
Throw in a few annual varminting weekend get togethers where everyone wants you to try their rifles and I will just say the smallest rifle I have used is a 14cal wildcat on fireball case and the largest a 50BMG.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Ha! This is pretty easy for me as every deer I have ever shot with the exception of one was with the same rifle....

Ruger M/77 30-06. Bought new in 1980 and I still have it. Man does it have some battle scars

Remington 700 Classic 6mm (one deer)
Browning A-Bolt 7mm Rem Mag (one Moose)
Remington M/600 308win

Bighorn Knight 50 cal inline

Remington 870 pump
Browning Silver Hunter

Ruger 77/22
Marlin 39-A
Glenfield M/60

Fun topic :)
