Very sorry for your loss. It is truly a tough time as they bring us so much loyalty, love, and they never have a bad day. We will never forget them but it will get better.

Sorry for your pain. Have gone through this before and I try to remember all the good times and the pleasure of their companionship and trust and love.

Thanks everybody for your kind words, I really appreciate them. Roper, I read all the poems on the link you provided and while I liked them all I agree with you that A Dogs Plea absolutely hits the nail on the head. My wife has been doing a lot of reading on dogs and end of life and her reading totally agrees with the dog thoughts in the poem. Now that we have had a few days to mourn and are starting to look at the bright side again we both agree that having that last night to lie with him and give comfort and love fits right in with what the poem and my wife’s reading says. The worst night in my life just may have been the best night in Massey’s life.

Sorry to hear about your loss of a great family member. Whether out in the fields hunting or just in the backyard chasing squirrels they give their all.
He is at peace now.

It is very sad and very difficult to lose pets. They give us unconditional love. He was a very beautiful dog!!
Time will help as many of us know. Hang in there Hatch. It gets better.

Such a great tribute to your friend. Thanks for posting . "When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart. For every time you think of me, I'm right here inside our heart" Anon.
