Re: Archery Season
congrats on the bow harvest and hope you have good luck with your Long Ranger .... what type of terrain do you hunt with your 308 and what range shots do you anticipate .... also, curious as to what ammo you use
Re: Archery Season
We hunt in far NW MN. It is state land and some areas are pretty thick. 150 yards or so is pretty much the longest shot, and less than 100 yards is pretty much the norm. I am using Federal Non-Typical 308 150 grain

Re: Archery Season
had to look up Federal Non-Typical 308 150 grain ammo .... sounds like some interesting hunting bullets .... my main hunting rifle the last 50 years has been a 308 .... for every big game outside of the largest black bears and boars, we prefer 150 grain bullets ..... ours excels with them
Re: Archery Season
That's good to know. I got a great deal on a case of that ammo. That's the real reason I got it. I have shot maybe two boxes of it, and it seems to be very consistant. I initally was shooting the Federal 168 grain Sierra MatchKing Boat Tail Hollow Point, and of course it was superb, but very expensive, so I switched.JEBar wrote: βMon Oct 28, 2019 1:22 pmhad to look up Federal Non-Typical 308 150 grain ammo .... sounds like some interesting hunting bullets .... my main hunting rifle the last 50 years has been a 308 .... for every big game outside of the largest black bears and boars, we prefer 150 grain bullets ..... ours excels with them

Filled two deer tags this year so early it forced me to buy a .22 Frontier to squirrel hunt with.

50# at 28β Damon Howett Super Diablo for the bow. Muzzy 125 3 blade Broadheads. Just put up the last of my Easton 2016 arrows and went to the archery shop and they helped me pick out some new shafts from heritage. They are named traditional and have a wood print on them. They are carbon and a little stuffer. I really like them.

Nice shooting! Thanks for sharing these photos and the story about getting your Henry Frontier. I hope you bring home lots of squirrels with it.
