Picture Taking and Placement

When I'm using my SS Galaxy tablet, (my primary tool) I have learned that I have to rotate it 90 dg to take a pic for it to show right side up when I attach and place in line for a post. I actually get better pics from my S7 smart phone because it seems more forgiving to movement. However, if I send that pic to my own email to use from my tablet, how do I know it will be right?
I learned early, that when attaching a pic from my files on the tablet and they appear right side up, when they post, then they are upside down...not as computer savvy as I might need to be, but what goes on here? :?:

I just open the file in an editor (Windows Paint) and crop/rotate/resize as needed before posting.

The picture is embedded with orientation information from the camera. The bottom edge of the picture will be embedded like below illustration.

So if you snap a picture with the camera lens 'up' (instead of to the left). The picture when posted will be 90' rotated to the left. If you snap a picture with the camera lens to the right, the picture will post upside down. For deeper dive, look at the 'Photo Testing' topic in 'Hobbies/Photography...' http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4541 The topic also covers why pictures are often distorted (stretched/squeezed).

Yup always keep the camera shutter release button on the right when taking a pic with a cell phone. If you get one up there turned Mark Jim or myself can usually fix it. I fixed several yeaterday in the picture thread.

Thank you Al! Will experiment as we go on. There have been times based on what I'm taking a pic of, when I'd like to hold my tablet vertically but don't because I don' know how it will post then.

I don't own a smart phone but I take pics with a Nikon digital camera. Upload to my PC, and edit however I want (including color correction and various FX using a free editor called IRFANVIEW. https://www.irfanview.com/ It works with all versions of Winderz, so should work on your phone/tablet.

I think it's available as a "Windows App" for phones, from the Windows App store. But since I don't have one of those modern doohickeys I can't say for sure.

Not many phones run Windows. Tablets, Laptops and Desktops are a mix of Windows, Android, and IOS. A "Windows App" only works on devices with Windows.

Open a picture. Then open the 3 dots in the upper right corner. Last entry in the drop down menu.

Find a middle school student and ask them for a tutorial.
