Window 10: Yes or No

Post by Steve51 » Sat Jul 23, 2016 9:59 am

I have Windows 8.1 (I think I am using an app to work in Windows 7 mode). I liked XP and whatever I am using is very similar to XP.

I have 6 days left to do a free upgrade to Windows 10. Should I do the upgrade?

I would appreciate any advice, good or bad.

For those who have upgraded to Windows 10 - did you have any problems? Are you satisfied with it?

shortly after it came out, my wife and I upgraded both of our computers to 10 .... on the one hand, no related issues .... on the other, after using it for a good while, we can't see much (if any) advantage to using it .... we don't have highly technical requirements on our computer use so I have no doubt we simply don't take advantage of many things it is supposed to be able to do .... we do tend to keep our computers until something breaks that cost more to fix than buying a new one .... we've been told that software is being written that requires 10, don't know that we will ever need it but for us that is a good point to having it

I have it on my laptop that previously was running 8.1. I would do it again.

You might as well get it free because Microsoft will stop support on windows 7 and 8.1 in the near future and you will be in the same boat as XP.
You can make it work good if opt out of add ons and don't bother with the Edge browser

I went with it when it was offered. I have it on all my devices that will take it. If you are already on windows 8.1, I think you will like it. To me it was a refined 8.1. I have an android phone and an android tablet. All of my stuff flows great with google and windows 10. There's a learning curve, but if you already are using 8.1, you should have no problems.

I've heard it works great on phones and tablets but it sure doesn't work on PC's.

Thanks all for your help. I upgraded to 10. I haven't had any real problems but have not noticed any outstanding improvements either. I downloaded it (took about 2-3 hours). My wife installed it. She is the librarian at our small town library and she had installed windows 10 on most of the library computers the day before.
It's done and I will live with it! THANKS AGAIN!!

Have a laptop that came with Windows 8, which was terrible. Upgraded to 10 and it's much better. My desktop has Windows 7, and I like it a LOT better than 10.
