Buck 309

Post by DWD445 » Thu Mar 02, 2017 7:22 am

I just got this 309 from a friend who has a friend with a teenage boy who's been getting into trouble. His dad took it from him (along with a machete!). He gave them to my friend (LEO), to do something with them. He gave them to me.
The Buck is worn, but I think I'll have it repaired.
Anyone know how to go about this ??
I'll get a pic of the machete later, it's Chinese, but cool.

How can I tell how old my Buck is ?

I literally wore out the blade of a Buck 110 Folding Hunter .... called Buck's customer service .... without questions, they sent a Return Authorization number .... I had to tell them that I wanted the blade replaced, not just send a new 110 .... over many years it had earned every ding in the wood and I wanted to pass it on to our oldest grandson .... they replaced the blade at no cost

Buck should be able to tell you the dates that that model was or has been in production but with out a serial number I don't know how them might be able to give a production date

That main blade needs to be replaced. As Mr. Bar said, contact Buck's customer service and tell them that the blade is worn out. They'll take good care of you I'm sure. Their customer service is almost as good as Henry's. I'm not as up on my Buck folding knife dating, but yours is probably a Camillus made Buck. I don't think it's early enough to have been a Schrade contract knife. You may not get a Camillus blade replacement, but they'll do a good job.

I lived in El Cajon Ca where Buck Knives made for many moons and a lot of friends worked there . So I got them a a super deal on there knifes . I had a collection of over 100 knives in 20 yrs . . I sold them in Tn in 1999 for more more then I paid for them .

This is the only one I keep and it was on of 1st easy open model made .

Thanks for the info guys, I'll be sending the 309 in soon and show the finished work. Here's the machete, made in China, but looks like well made. Eagle Knives brand, and again both were given to me :D

Not bad, considering the price.
