Anybody else?

Post by dmanwarren » Sat Apr 01, 2017 1:54 pm

Anybody else dabble in making knives? Here's some of mine that I've made, not the prettiest but I make them to use them. If you got some post em up, I'd like to see them.

This is my every day carry made from a bucksaw blade

My neck knife also worn daily made from an old file.

Old US Navy knife that had a completely rotted out leather handle so I made one out of antler.

This is a broadhead for an atlatl dart made from a table saw blade.

X3. Great use of older metals. Like the interesting antler handle.

JEBar, I do like that show. I haven't tried hammer forging yet, so far I just anneal a given piece to soften and cut my shape. finish out knife with grinders, sanders, etc and heat back up and quench for hardness then one or two more heat treats to soften enough to not be brittle.

PT7, Thanks. I had that chunk of antler laying around my shop for ten years waiting on the right blade to put it on. Found the old Navy knife at a pawn shop for $5 and went after it. It's kinda like having a guard for your hand in case you get in a fight with a deer yielding weapons. LOL

That's nice work. I like to re-purpose things. I haven't reached your level at all. :D
