I got lucky that my wife likes the show as much as I do. I've been building kit knives sparingly for 20 years so it was fascinating from day one. We've seen every episode and have it set on our Dish DVR to record every episode, new or rerun. Many of those guys do miraculous work in the short time they're given and turn in some spectacular looking knives.

I sold a bowie I had made to a guy a couple years ago and he asked me if I had ever gone J. Neilson on one of my knives to see how it would hold up! I literally paused and asked him if he was going to do that to the bowie. Freaked me out a little cause I spent weeks working on it. I get sick to my stomach watching Neilson try to destroy the knives on the show! I can't imagine what the builder feels like standing there watching that. I'm still surprised that my wife will watch Doug hack up a pig, yet she doesn't like me to bring a deer hind quarter into the kitchen still on the bone. I do all my deer processing outside.

I'll see someone do something that we've learned is not cool on the show, and I'll glance at my wife and she's looking at me shaking her head! She could probably forge hew own knife with all the knowledge she's gained watching. Very cool show.

Love that show!!! Doug is known as stabbie stabbie here in our home. We also try to guess the winner at the intro!

Oh yeah, and it's usually not the cocky one!
