Direct me to an acceptable honing rod please
Ive got several skinning knives. A couple of Buck brand knives, a couple of custom made jobs out of supposedly higher end steel... and so on.. they all do ok.... for some readon i noticed a little old timer brand , a schrade 1520T in a display in the feedstore last week and liked the shape of its blade. It was only 21 dollars so we are not talking a big money knife. Took it with me when i shot the last doe the other day and was amazed how easy it unzipped that deer!.... like cutting hot butter. Now, no idea how it will maintain an edge but just had a thought... a good short sharpening or honing steel might slow down how often i had to take all my knives to the sharpening stone. There Appear to be numerous ones on ebay for about 20 bucks.. anyone here with experience using them that can tell me what i need .... etc..... thanks

Walker, I’ve been using this for several years. It is easy and quick. Not a professional job, but adequate. Good luck.

Not getting image. It is simply grey. Do I have a problem?

I use this one on my kitchen knifes. Not going to bring back a dull knife but works well for a quick touch up.

I like to use the bottom of a coffee mug. If you find one in the cupboard that works well, it works surprisingly well. Some plates too.
I bought two ceramic honing rods from Smokey Mountain a few years ago. They were about 3.oo each. They do a good job too.
