Helle knives out of Norway~~~

Post by Catherine » Thu Sep 08, 2016 11:02 pm

Do any of you own the HELLE brand knife in Mandra and/or in the Viking model?

The Mandra is a newer model and the Viking is an older model.

Both of them are FIXED blade knives.

Do any of you own any other styles of HELLE knives?

They are good knives but I never owned one.

Thank you.

Just checked out the website since I haven't heard of them before. The handles are throwing me off. They don't look very ergonomic but I guess it's not fair to judge without holding them in person.

Also, the names remind me of shopping at IKEA for furniture!

Hi, Cate. No, I don't have that brand knife, and hadn't heard of it before.

I also looked at the Helle web site and found the Mandra model. (And found an interesting chat about the Mandra on BF under the general discussion). Very cool-looking knife and I especially like the "curly birch" handle. Also thought the history of this knife's development was quite interesting. All-in-all, I thought it was a quite good promotional piece on this knife.

Are you planning to get one? Seems like it would work in Montana as it's promoted to be a "lifelong outdoors companion" -- an interesting description. ;)

Take care.....Best.
