Camillus Jumbo Trapper

I happen to think the Jumbo Trapper is one of the best knife patterns around. I have collected several. Within the last few years, I found that Camillus knives, the original Camillus, made a double lockback version of the jumbo trapper. Well now, I had to find one........ I did. I paid a handsome price for it and when I showed it on another forum last year, a very serious collector offered to purchase it from me. I turned him down and probably made him cringe when I said that I planned to carry it and use it because of the locking feature. I did just that. I also have almost a dozen other jumbo trappers. All are collectible except a couple from China that are thrown into the tool box and truck that serve as workhorse tools. They serve as garden knives.
This knife is special and rides on my hip. I hope to use it on a deer.

Nice one Dave, I only own one Camillus.
Silver in color, and looks like a scout knife of some sort.

I've always liked the Camillus knives. The Corps issued the Camilus knives to technicians when you checked in as part of your "Equipment" issue, the knife was called a TL for some reason. It had a very sharp and easily resharpened blade, and a second fold out locking standard screwdriver blade. Perfect for opening access panels on aircraft. :)

Each new squadron, a new TL. Tina adopted one and it's in the drawer in her end table these days, she uses it for a letter opener and to open Amazon boxes. I have several around somewhere... I find them in drawers, tool boxes and used to have them on workbenches here and there.

They stopped the individual issue about halfway thru my career when they tightened up on tool control to prevent FOD (Foreign Object Damage) as the cause of aircraft mishaps, but those little knives were in nearly every tool box or tool pouch you would check out from tool issue. A great little tool.
