OKNIFE Sentry R1 EDC Pocket Chef Knife

Post by JEBar » Mon Apr 08, 2024 1:59 pm

yep, I still enjoy working with interesting knives .... that is specially true when it comes to food preparation .... a while back I ordered a OKNIFE Sentry R1 EDC Folding Chef Knife and for a couple of reasons I'm glad that I did .... one being I caught it on sale for $44.99 from Amazon .... as can be seen in this link, they have gone up considerably ====> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4GZ7H9J?ps ... ct_details ..... here is a link to a short YouTube video showing it in use =====> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7XtJaewYig&t=78s .... when it comes to being a solid, well built folding knife my first impressions are favorable .... it comes with a pocket clip built into its grip that is held in place by two small screws ..... I'm not a fan of such clips so I routinely remove this .... in this case doing so proved to be a pain .... they sealed them using what appeared to be blue Loctite .... this coming weekend spending 4 days camping with our club and I hope to give this knife a workout

UPDATE ....

I've now used our Sentry R1 EDC Pocket Chef Knife enough to have formed some mixed impressions ....

Positives :

well made, very solid with a good locking mechanism

the blade is well designed and holds its edge

the blade lends itself to chopping and slicing

Negatives :

while solid, the handle is thin and doesn't fit my hand as comfortably as that of standard chef's knives

the blade doesn't lend itself to smaller/more precise cuts

Impressions :

for use under circumstances similar to tent camping, hiking, shore lunches, etc, it really does well .... for use in RV'ing where you have drawers and such for cooking utensils, I prefer standard chef's style knives
