Just wanted to let everyone know that I am shooting, despite no range reports for awhile. Just that this has been a rough winter, even as our usual rough north country winters go. Just stepping out into the yard to shovel out our airgun targets buried in the snow has been a challenge, not to mention loading pellets gets to be a real headache in sub zero temperatures.

All my recent shooting, then, has been indoors in the basement at 10 meters with the airguns. Not as much fun as shooting spinner and reactive targets, outdoors, but indoors will do until we get a break in the weather.

Choice of rifle for today's indoor shooting session was one of my favorites, the Weihrauch HW 30S Laminate with a Nikon scope set as 7x. This is a superbly accurate light power spring piston airgun in 177 caliber. Trigger is outstanding, measuring in mere ounces of pull weight. From a rest, have shot many one hole groups at 35 yards with this gun, and many sub inch groups at 50 yards on a day with no wind.


Indoors, though, it's is all offhand for the sake of a challenge, but even offhand, this gun will still give me one hole groups.


That's it for, now, short and sweet. If you live in a warmer place, get on out and shoot some groups for me. In the meantime, I'll be shooting indoors, keeping sharp with the air gun shooting.

Your post got me thinking about what I would have to do to my basement to set up a 10 meter range, and, sad to say, it can't be done UNLESS I shoot from my garage into my house, through two open doors and into my mechanical/storage room.
But, I'm still mulling it over...

Thanks, Seabee. Actually, I'm very active with our winter sports and get out on a daily basis with the skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking. Winter sports are a big part of life and our economy, up here. I only duck for cover with the shooting in the winter. Pretty hard to work up a sweat in sub zero temps with shooting. An aerobic workout kind of sport, it is not.

I wonder if that's the reason for the biathlon. Ski for a while, then shoot

Doubt that's why the sport originated , but I can definitely testify that vigorous XC skiing is a GREAT way to keep warm, even in sub-zero temps. What amazes me about those folks is how well they can shoot after all that physical exertion. Incredible athletes.

Great shooting as usual. We have had temperatures in the low teens and currently a foot of snow so no shooting for me.

I like temps in the 20s and a bit of sunshine before I get too excited about shooting, outdoors, in the winter. 30s is better, but, even then, sessions are short due to cold fingers.
