An under lever gun, you say? Where's the lever?
Yup, the lever retracts into the stock, rather than running under the barrel. Pulling it out from the stock, cocks the gun and opens the breech for loading. With a pellet loaded, just fold the lever back into the stock.
This ProSport is something of a specialty gun for me. I use it as one of my dedicated 50 yard offhand shooters, because, compared to traditional under lever spring piston guns with the lever under the barrel, the ProSport has more of a rearward balance and is considerably less muzzle heavy. It's still a heavy gun at 8 plus pounds, but that rearward balance allows me to shoot this gun, longer, from an offhand position before my arms fatigue.
It's certainly a respectable 50 yard shooter from the bench, but the only time I shoot this gun from a rest is for sight in purposes, as seen in this target, shot shortly after I bought it, trying various pellets to see what the gun liked.
Otherwise, it's an offhand gun. Unfortunately, due to the fact that our range was mostly under water this summer, due to record high rainfall, all my shooting was on metal spinner targets at 50 yards. Just didn't feel like putting on waders or grabbing a canoe to put up paper targets at that distance. Guess you'll have to trust me when I report that I can hit a 2 3/4" spinner target more often than I miss at 50 yards from a standing position.
I do have some paper targets to share, though, from my indoor work, this week.
I should also share that this is about as expensive as it gets in a spring piston air rifle. It's truly a gun for an addict like me who enjoys not just the way the gun shoots, but also just operating and holding such a quality gun. For me, this gun is as much about the experience as the results. You absolutely DO NOT have to spend this kind of money to get a gun that shoots well at 50 yards. Air gunning can be expensive, but most shooters can do just as well at 50 yards with guns costing far, far less. Again, I share this to give everyone a sample of what's available in the world of shooting air guns.
