Ultra quiet air gun

Two of my favorite rifles are my CZ 200 PCP carbines. These are no longer made, which is a real shame, because they are wonderful air rifles and were reasonably priced in their day.

CZ 200T (top) and CZ 200S (bottom). Scopes are Nikon Prostaff EFR 3-9s.

There were two versions, the CZ200 T (target) which shoots at 500 fps (over 100 shots per fill) and the CZ 200 S (sporter) which shoots around 800 fps (70 shots per fill). Note that after CZ stopped importing them to the US, Air Arms imported them for CZ, so you may see one labeled as the AA 200T and so on.

Now these do not come equipped with a moderator or silencer, but they are still relatively quiet due to their low/moderate power. Recently, though, I "borrowed" a slip on silencer from one of my HW springers and was able to use it on the CZ 200S because the CZ has the same barrel diameter. Pulled off the little shroud on the end of the 200S barrel and added the HW silencer.

Amazing difference. Not kidding at all when I say that with a silencer, the 200S is so quiet I can hear the trigger click when I fire a shot. It's just plain spooky. If I didn't see a hole appear in the target, I might not believe I took a shot.

And the silencer has no effect on the great 200S accuracy. Shot this one today from the bench. Sweet shooting rifle.

Pretty amazing your POI and group size didn’t change. That’s impressive. Good looking rifles too as well as accurate.

Thanks, guys. These really are nice little rifles, a joy to handle and shoot. They are old school, now, meaning single shot, bolt action, though there was a magazine that could be fitted via a kit. No regulator, either, though they really don't need one, given the power curve is so flat. The reservoirs are unscrewed from the gun for filling, but given the low pressure and fairly small size of the reservoir, I can still (just) manage to fill with a pump. That wears me out, though, so I just use the compressor these days. Only takes a minute for a fill with the compressor. This CZ200 is really a great value in a PCP air rifle, so if you see one come up for sale, you might want to take a look.

That is a good question.

Dave, e-bay usually has a good selection, but you do need to know what you want because you can get lost in all the offerings.

Gun shows and gun shops are usually slim pickings because very few gun shops and gun show folks are air gun shooters, but now and then you can find something. There are exceptions to this in regions of the country where air guns are popular. My area is not one of them, though.

Air gun forum classifieds are a good place to check. Gateway to Airguns (GTA) is one of the main forums. I'm a member and bought my 200 S from one of the members. Probably the safest place to buy, IMO.

If you plan to go PCP, I highly recommend going straight to a compressor. Many PCP shooters, myself included, start out with a pump to save money, but pumping is not fun and gets old in a hurry. Once you have a compressor, you will shoot a LOT more. I guarantee it.
