Colt Peacemaker

I want to share the COOLEST air gun I've seen in a long time.
My new Colt Peacemaker by Umarex. What a great and fun gun this is.
I traveled to a small Upstate NY community to attend an equally small air gun show on Friday. It was well worth the trip. There were many vintage air guns. Many, with the all important "box".
There were also many new air guns. I had brought cash with me and didn't want to spend it unless it was well worth it. A trip around the show brought me back to Baker Airgun's tables. The owner, Dennis, had put me onto the show. I met his airgunsmith, Putt, tending to the tables. He saw my immediate interest in the Colt. He mentioned they had brought two, after another gentleman had seen me look it over and was now showing interest as well. The owner, Dennis Baker, came over after a while and went outside to look over the other gentleman's trade. Putt went to the shooting range with another customer and I introduced myself to Dennis. Both he and Putt were knowledgeable air gunsmiths and enthusiast's. I left the show with the Colt and some pellets Putt recommended for one of my troublesome air rifles.
This air gun is made of metal. It is finished nicely. They had only the nickel version. There is a blued version as well. I like the nickel best anyways. I had never seen one of the Colt's in person, only on the internet. Boy, it makes a great impression. It comes with six brass cartridges that are loaded into the cylinder. That's right, just like the real thing. A BB is placed at the base of each cartridge. It looks like a primer when inserted. Just as the real Peacemaker loads, bring the hammer to half cock, open the loading gate and insert the cartridges and rotate the cylinder. Close the gate and it's ready to go.
Unloading is just as easy. The ejector rod functions the same as the real gun, but is not necessary, unless you want to, as the cartridges slid out on their own.
The gun uses a single CO2 12g cartridge. The left side grip comes off. It also contains a wrench to help tighten the piercing bolt. It was simple to do.
The gun shoots pretty well. It seems to put 4 in a quarter sized hole with two flyers. Pretty regularly too. I thought it might be me, but after many tries, it's about the same all the time.
All in all, it's a really really REALLY fun gun to shoot. Loading cartridges into a realistic, weight appropriate gun is FUN! Putt mentioned they sell extra cartridges, although he didn't have any. I'll surely be ordering some. The cartridges weren't .45, more like .357 magnum plus. I would love it if Umarex made a lever gun for the same cartridges and other revolvers for this cartridge. What fun. There is a safety sliding tab under the frame. The hammer only goes completely forward after firing. Otherwise, it sits slightly back from the frame normally. I really love this fun gun.
The gun looks good, feels good shoots good, so it is GREAT.
