Now that I’ve shot the Peacemaker a few dozen times I’m noticing something oozing from the hammer pivot area. It smells and feels like vegetable oil. It kind of surprised me it had so much hidden inside.

Yes. All I did was inspect it for function and made sure the barrel was clear.

I haven’t seen anything like that on mine. RR might be right could be the beginning of the alien invasion. If Siguorney Weaver shows up at your place run for the hills.
