in the pictures below the differences in Hornady (on the left) and RCBS (on the right) shell holders can be seen .... the Hornady primer ejection hole is noticeably larger .... both will fit into each other's single stage press .... I plan on trying them and seeing if they will work

Probably will. That larger hole is why you need Hornadys' holder to work in their Cam Lok Trimmer.

I notice the Hornady 45 colt brass goes into my Lee shell holder a little tighter than the other brands. Have not had any issues with primer hole.

interesting .... I've never seen one of their trimmers up close .... given, my extensive experience with a RCBS Rock Cruncher made back in 1965 .... since then its handle has been worked many tens of thousands of times .... I don't know how may (if any) changes they have made to their press .... that said, I do have a few observations about it and the new Hornady Classic L-N-L .... the L-N-L does a better job of catching ejected primers
the design of the Classic's primer seating arm is much easier to remove/install --- if you are not using it to install primers, it gets in the way and slows down the operation of the press --- switching from large to small primers or small back to large is easier with the Classic because the tool is easier to remove --- the spring clip that is supposed to lock the shell holder in place on the top of the ram is useless (I plan to call Hornady about that tomorrow)
I like the basic design of the frame of the Classic, its slanted to where I find it easier to work with, if I was left handed, that wouldn't be the case
the feel of working the L-N-L's Ram is extremely smooth
for those who like the L-N-L quick change bushing, they can be used with either press
