During the virus lockdown my wife and girls and I have been watching a movie each night. They are always busy with making some craft stuff, gifts, etc. So, I decided to keep myself busy too and have moved the reloading process to the living room with a portable LEE hand press set up for 9MM. It has worked out really well. The load that I have started with is Berry's flat base round nose 124 grain bullet over 4.2 grains of 231 with a COL of 1.15. I made up 20 rounds last night and took them to the range today and here are the results. 10 rounds in my CZ and 10 in my Walther from 7 yards. All cycled without a hitch. I have about 200 rounds resized and primed and ready for powder and bullets. I think that this is the load I will be sticking with.

Looks like the CZ really likes that load. Have 4 CZ's love them all.

I have thought about priming in the living room, but I personally would not do full loading unless I had a place with no carpet or static electricity problems. Around here in winter, even with a whole house humidifier providing 40+% RH, I get an audible blue spark from my fingers every now and then when I touch something like a light switch or a dog..... no way would reloading be safe at my house. In the unheated garage I don’t have these issues.

Maybe I have a “special house”, I dunno. I would still worry about dropping live primers into the carpet, and you definitely should NOT vacuum up those with a typical residential cleaner...

Same situation here. To minimize I take off my plastic/rubber soled shoes and go stocking feet (cotton) or wear my leather soled shoes.

Great advice you guys! We don't really have a static issue in our home, but that room does get vacuumed just about daily... Maybe the portable hand loading will have to be on the front porch. Thanks for trying to keep me out of the 'empty saddles' category!

Folks he shoots the day of the week squares on a calendar and keeps the shots inside the square!!! Yeah I'd say that is a great load...great shooting!

Static electricity/blue sparks <and> vacuuming up dropped primers from carpets.
Gosh, would never have thought of such things....
Still a good thing I'm not a reloader -- I'd be a danger!

my first reloading system was a Lee Loader .... the second was a Lee Hand Press .... I still have both of them .... I made the mistake of trying to jump directly to loading 308 bear hunting loads which proved to be more than a total newbie without considerable frustration .... looking back, I am certain I'd of been much better off if I'd of started with 44 Mags

Yes... as a novice hand loader I still stick with .45 colt, 9mm, and 45-70.... Pretty simple... Although I have been saving .223 brass.

Static electricity???? Yeah I might have an issue or two! About 400,000 volts worth!
