MagnetoSpeed has some blemished hardcase units for sale for $320, vs $399.

“We have a limited number of "blemished" V3 chronographs. A manufacturing error resulted in a run with a miss-alignment on the bottom jack port of the bayonet that does not allow our data cable to make the proper connection. Some third party cables may be able to work with the bottom jack. The rear jack still functions at 100%, as well as all other components of the kit.”

I have on old shot up chronograph, which is such a disaster and PITA to set up, and it needs perfect conditions to even function. I have long been interested in the Sporter version, but it won’t work with rimfire or airguns or lead bullets like the V3. For $320 I will get the better one.

I have a magneto unit but could never make it work on my lever guns. I never thought about mounting on the side, thanks for the tip.

I tried mine out on my new BBX but have not fired it yet. It works fine on the side, it just takes a little fussing around....

The “blem” is a very slightly mislocated hole in the housing at the front cable socket. I haven’t fixed it yet, but it should be simple enough to open up with a dremel tool (after carefully plugging the socket with some cotton).

I hope to try it out on my ancient .177 Daisy pump air pistol soon, I will report back if it works on teeny pellets at slow speed.

I also got a picatinny rail adapter for pistols, and a set of tapered spacers, the latter is for my 10/22 which has a rather steep angle at the muzzle. It is a very nice chrono. I am quite pleased.
