Oh, oh! Loaded up some 30-30's. What could that possibly mean? 170gr Hornady Interlock FN, 33.0gr Win 748 and a CCI mag primer.
Well, looks like a desert shoot to me! Not sure what day, but, it's fast approaching. 30-30, 30-06, a couple of .45 Colts; oh, this gonna be an over night deal me thinks!

Interesting use for the mag primer. You find that burns that load best (or just the one you have on hand)?Rifletom wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 9:09 pmOh, oh! Loaded up some 30-30's. What could that possibly mean? 170gr Hornady Interlock FN, 33.0gr Win 748 and a CCI mag primer.

Curious of that also, as I have 1200 on hand and need to find a use for them.NHshtr wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 9:35 pmInteresting use for the mag primer. Didn't load any ammo but I did do a touch up on the top of it where it was scratched from dragging things across the top of it. Light sanding and wipe on poly made it look good again. Probably trying to keep it to nice but I really like the looks of the Butcher block tops. I think it adds a nice look to my room.

I use the mag primer with 748 only. It's a ball type powder, so, helps with ignition. Seemed to help with accuracy also. The MV in my Mod 94[20" barrel], avg is 2,025 fps. It's a good load.NHshtr wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 9:35 pmInteresting use for the mag primer. Randy, you have any 748? Mag primers work well with that powder in 30-30's.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
Earlier this year I had put a “notify me” when Graf and Sons got the Sierra .223 77 gr SMK back in stock. Well yesterday I got the notice at $18. Ish a box with a limit of 2. So I ordered two boxes but got a notice that Grafs now had a $40. Min order. I got a chuckle out of that because I was limited to buying two only but needed to buy three or more to hit the new minimum order. So I just added a can of Hornady One Shot Case Lube and got the order placed.
A few weeks ago I bought two boxes at a local store for $26. So at $18 each plus $10 for shipping it was still cheaper.
Oh how I pine away for 2019.......

Yes I do have a little bit, probably less than half a pound, butRifletom wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 9:38 amI use the mag primer with 748 only. It's a ball type powder, so, helps with ignition. Ordered some .308 dies from RCBS and some 150 gr fmj target bullets from Midsouth Shooter supply. My son just purchased a Savage 10 BA stealth and we hope to set up 300 to 500 yard range on Vermont property.
